I know I haven’t posted an updated in a while, but I had a reason. Carol and I have been in Springfield, Missouri for the last three weeks. We were at “Pre-field Orientation.” It is a time of training and getting together with missionaries that are currently on the field. I wanted to wait to post until we were able to speak with “those on the field.”
It was both an encouraging and sobering time. On the one hand, we were encourage to hear what God is doing in Indonesia, to better understand our own direction and assignment there, and learn about the cultural differences we will encounter. On the other hand, we were sobered as we realized the challenges we will encounter, the complexities of Indonesia’s world view compared to our own, and the spiritual strongholds that exist in the country.
Carol and I are beginning to feel a draw to an Island called Lombok. It is considered a “Least Reached” people group. (Least Reach is a people group that is less than 1% Christian) They are poor people that “has a need for medical education especially in the area of birthing Mothers and infant death.” (Quote from Joshua project website) ISN’T THAT GOD! If you didn’t know, this is what Carol specializes in! We have begun to pray for these people.
Right now, however, we are concentrating on what is in front of us, “Itineration.” I must admit, I am enjoying going from church to church. We love blessing those we meet and ministering among God’s people. We know that as we do, God will supply our financial needs in order to get to Indonesia. “Seek first the kingdom of God and all other things will be added onto you.” If you would like to support us, just click on “giving/partnering.”
Carol and I would love to hear from you. Please, email us and let us know how you are doing and anything that God may have put on your heart!
May the Love of Christ dwell within you richly,
Donald and Carol PS. Please pray for us and our children
